300Pix Web Design & Marketing

300Pix Design & Marketing

For over ten years we have been providing commercial and personal Internet solutions for businesses and individuals. Regardless of the enormous growth of the Internet in recent years one of the questions we still often get is: Why do I need a website?

Indeed, what do you need the web site for?

  • To show your current and prospective customers what you have to offer before they come to your place of business
  • To sell your products and services online
  • To share your artistic talent with your friends and family or future employers
  • To represent you 24 hours a day - to work for you when you rest or party
  • To reach people across the street or across the globe

The possibilities are countless!

Unlike the leads from traditional advertising, each visitor to your web site is, most probably, interested in what you have to offer. Otherwise they wouldn't have searched for you or your product and services. Another big advantage of the Internet presence is the possibility of immediate feedback from your visitors which is impossible with traditional advertising.

We pride ourselves in the ability to work with you to understand what exactly you need. Therefore we offer our customers the web site that will precisely fulfill their Internet needs and requirements. Same principle is valid for all the marketing materials we provide - print materials, photography, videography or any other media solutions.

Whether it is a private website for sharing events through on-line picture or video galleries or a corporate web site to present a complete corporate profile; whether you need an on-line portfolio to showcase your talent or a complete Internet business tool that will bring you new leads and will drive your sales up, we can design and develop exactly the website you need.

In addition, we can create all your promotional print materials to be fully integrated with your online image. Whether you are starting a new company or want a facelift of your existing company, we can design and redesign all the materials to create or improve your Corporate Identity.

If your web presence or print materials require digital imaging we would take the photographs or shoot the videos and optimize them for you.

Our commitment to you is to help you take your marketing materials to a higher level.

Good Web Design vs Bad Web Design

Good Web Design Features Bad Web Design Features

Text

  • Background does not interrupt the text
  • Text is big enough to read, but not too big
  • The hierarchy of information is perfectly clear
  • Columns of text are narrower than in a book to make reading easier on the screen

Navigation

  • Navigation buttons and bars are easy to understand and use
  • Navigation is consistent throughout web site
  • Navigation buttons and bars provide the visitor with a clue as to where they are, what page of the site they are currently on
  • Frames, if used, are not obtrusive

Links

  • Link colors coordinate with page colors

Graphics

  • Buttons are not big and dorky
  • Graphics too have an alt label
  • Every graphic link has a matching text link
  • Graphics and backgrounds use browser-safe colors
  • Animated graphics turn off by themselves

General Design

  • Pages download quickly
  • Pages fit into 1024 x 768 pixel space
  • Good use of graphic elements (photos, subheads, pull quotes) to break up large areas of text
  • Every web page in the site looks like it belongs to the same site; there are repetitive elements that carry throughout the pages

Links

  • Default blue links
  • Blue link borders around graphics
  • Links that are not clear about where they will take you

Graphics

  • Large graphic files that take forever to load
  • Meaningless or useless graphics
  • Thumbnail images that are nearly as large as the full-sized images they link to
  • Graphics with no alt labels
  • Missing graphics, especially missing graphics with no alt labels
  • Graphics that don't fit on the screen

Tables

  • Borders turned on in tables
  • Tables used as design elements, especially with extra large borders

Blinking and animations

  • Anything that blinks, especially text
  • Multiple things that blink
  • Animated pictures for email
  • Animations that never stop
  • Multiple animations that never stop

Navigation

  • Unclear navigation; over complex navigation
  • Complicated frames, too many frames
  • Useless page titles that don't explain what the page is about

General Design

  • Entry page or home page that does not fit within standard browser window
  • Frames that make you scroll sideways
  • No focal point on the page
  • Navigation buttons as the only visual interest, especially when they're large
  • Cluttered, not enough alignment of elements
  • Lack of contrast (in color, text, to create hierarchy of information, etc.)
  • Pages that look okay in one browser but not in another
